Rosselkhoznadzor told about facts of adulteration of canned meat products from Belarus. During one of Rosselkhoznadzor’s inspections, experts detected the DNA of chickens and pigs in canned (lumpy) beef, called Beef Stew and produced at Orsha Meat Processing Plant (Belarus). The marking on the canned goods suggested that they should contain only beef.
Pork stew, produced by Queenfood LLC, contained the DNA of chickens and cattle, although this canned product should include only pork.
The DNA of chickens was discovered in one more product of pork, Special Brisket, produced by Veles Meat LLC. The marking implied only pork.
All batches were accompanied by certificates of quality and veterinary documents, issued by competent authorities of Belarus.
“This year, we have taken 59 samples of finished meat products, produced in Belarus. 35 cases of adulteration have been identified. Since the substitution of expensive meat with cheaper raw materials is possible only at enterprises with a weak control system, monitoring results have been reported to veterinary services of Belarus,” Rosselkhoznadzor’s statement reads.
Meanwhile, experts note that the adulteration of meat products, particularly canned goods and sausages, has been taking place on a massive scale, and this is true not only for goods from Belarus.
Experts often detect high content of water, violation of recipes, replacing of fresh meat with old one, introducing of different feedstocks and additives, violation of technological processes and storage recommendations.
