The enterprise with foreign investments McDonald's Ukraine Ltd. (Kyiv) runs the American fast-food chain McDonald's in Ukraine and intends to invest more than UAH 270 million in 2017.
“This year capital investments will be at the level of 2016 or a bit higher,” said this year will be the year 2016-level, or a little more," said Grzegorz Chmielarski, General Director of McDonald's Ukraine.
In his words, the company’s capital investments amounted to UAH 270 million in 2016, Interfax Ukraine reports. In 2017, part of the funds will go to open 3-4 new restaurants in the country and to renovate 4 more.
Mr Chmielarski says that the attendance of the company’s restaurants in the past year increased by approximately 3% compared to 2015 — up to 85 million people. The increase was achieved mainly due to the opening of new restaurants, resulting in the expansion of the chain in Ukraine to 80 institutions.
“We believe that this is a good achievement because the country is in difficult economic conditions. But we have also noted some revival in the first quarter of 2017. This is a very good sign of recovery of the market, and it has been observed on other markets, too,” Mr Chmielarski said.
He also mentions that a new meal delivery service looks promising. “Major markets for McDonalds, with more resources, have started working in this direction. The corporation is focused on finding an optimal way to provide a meal delivery service. If there is a corporate decision to work in this area, we will be doing it, too,” Mr Chmielarski said.
