Starbucks Corp. plans to enter into a long-term contract with the Georgian government, a Russian newspaper Kommersant reports. In the future, a coffee processing plant will be built in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, followed by establishing a chain of coffee shops.
The information on reaching a preliminary agreement with Starbucks Corp. was provided by a spokesman of the Tbilisi City Administration. At the moment the contract is not signed but it may happen soon, since the agreement in principle has been reached.
“We have broadly agreed on a plan for the construction of a plant in Tbilisi,” the City Administration official told, specifying that the company’s coffee processing plant will be built in Tbilisi’s suburb — Kakhetinskoye Highway, near the Central Bank main safe-keeping facility.
No specific terms of signing the contract with Starbucks Corp. have been indicated. The corporation’s representatives have refrained from commenting.
