Bimbo QSR, one of the largest suppliers of McDonald's sandwich buns in Russia, is launching a second line for frozen baked goods for burgers. New equipment at Bimbo’s plant in Moscow will help expand the menu with new types of products. A high degree of automation eliminates the human factor and makes the production process even safer.
The new building with an area of 12,000 square meters is fully equipped for the production of all types of buns, including the updated line of burgers, introduced by McDonald's last December. The most time consuming operations with dough are automated. A fully robotic freezer for freezing buns with a capacity of 2,500 pallets will be installed soon. Thanks to an expanded control system and additional equipment, the new line will deliver classic buns for McDonald's, as well as other types of bakery products such as ciabatta and puff pastry: this will expand the McDonald's menu with new formats of dishes.
“Developing a network of local suppliers is one of the key priorities of McDonald's in every market. We are especially proud that here, in Russia, we have managed to completely localize the production of almost every type of ingredient for our burgers: from salads to buns. We are constantly striving to improve production processes and raise the bar for quality. The launch of a new line at Bimbo’s plant is another step in this direction,” said Sergei Kapkov, purchasing director, McDonald's Russia.
“Grupo Bimbo believes that investments in production facilities in Russia are fundamentally important to support McDonald's growth plans, expand the range of products, ensure impeccable quality and maximum efficiency of operations,” explained Yuri Sharabakin, CEO, Bimbo QSR for Russia and Kazakhstan.
Today 99% of McDonald's products are manufactured in Russia. Each of the 160 local suppliers meets high international manufacturing standards. The new production line at Bimbo's plant passed extensive testing — the produced buns were sent to the McDonald's European Quality Center (it examines samples of all the company's products) and got high grades from experts.
