Procter & Gamble (P&G) brands supported Earth Overshoot Day (July 29, 2021). As the general partner of this annual campaign by WWF Russia, P&G strives to draw consumers’ attention to environmental problems and demonstrate that everyone can contribute to the preservation of the planet and its resources.
In honor of Earth Overshoot Day P&G brands, such as Ariel, Tide, Lenor, Fairy, have launched the #cashbackforourplanet project: the company returns 15% of the cost of products under these brands, purchased at O'Key stores, as cashback. Another 5% will be transferred to support WWF Russia's project on saving valuable forests of the Katun Ridge. These funds will go to purchase special equipment, double the frequency of patrolling the forests of the ridge within the boundaries of the Katun Nature Reserve and adjacent territories. Forests on the Katun Ridge are vital for local ecosystems — they regulate river flow, control floods and soil erosion, determining the flow regime of the upper Katun, which affects vast expanses downstream.
Before this year's Earth Overshoot Day, WWF Russia continues the Follow the Signs campaign, launched in 2020, to help people learn more about eco-labeling on product packaging. P&G supports the fund's initiative and calls for a broader understanding of eco-labeling, paying attention to all signs that show that a product is made in accordance with environmental standards.
