Askon, a Novosibirsk-based packaging manufacturer, has launched the production of PET preforms for dairy containers. Investments in the project exceeded ₽320 million, with ₽160 million as a preferential loan under Development Projects, a program of the Industrial Development Fund (IDF).
With the help of borrowed funds, the company acquired a high-tech line and launched the production of PET preforms, used to make containers for dairy drinks. In addition, thanks to the new equipment, the company managed to increase the production of PET preforms for water, soda, and vegetable oil.
“Today, PET containers occupy leading positions on the world’s packaging market. With the assistance of IDF, the company acquired modern equipment and launched the production of new products — PET preforms for dairy containers of 0.4-1 l,” said Aleksei Ovsyannikov, CEO of Askon LLC.
The new line will produce up to 210 million different PET preforms per year. The company’s total output has increased by 33% — up to 850 million units.
In May 2023, Askon is launching another line, boosting its capacity up to 1.2 billion preforms per year. By the end of the year, the company plans to occupy up to 6% of the market and become the sixth largest manufacturer in the country. Russia's PET packaging market, according to the company, is estimated at 21 billion pieces.
Askon manufactures preforms of various weight and neck geometry from locally produced polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Preforms are recyclable, which reduces the negative impact on the environment.
