Ilim Group is launching an import substitution project worth 9 billion rubles ($102 million). The company’s assortment has been expanded with two positions, Ilim Standard and Ilim Pro. The new office paper is designed for universal printing and use with all types of laser and inkjet printers, copiers. The composition is based on coniferous and deciduous cellulose.
Alexey Chernyaev, Senior Vice President of Sales, says that the company’s branch in Koryazhma is also an import substitution project.
“Earlier, we used to purchase chemical reagents in Scandinavia, however, Ilim Group’s branch in Koryazhma has mastered the technology of their production. The quality of bleaching and paper has been preserved.”
As part of the project, the company installed several papermaking machines at the plant. The plant’s capacity exceeds 200,000 tons per year.
In Russia, the company accounts for 77% of all commercial pulp produced, 16% of packaging materials, and 25% of white paper. About half of Ilim Group’s products go to China, where the company is the No. 1 player in pure cellulose corrugated materials. The company’s priority is to expand supplies to China by 40% to 2.4 million tons per year by 2025. In addition to such key markets as Russia and China, the company pursues developing in the Middle East, India, Africa, and Latin America.
